Job Summary
CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Oro Grande cement plant. This internship is ideal for a student interested in mechanical engineering. The intern will have the opportunity to work with the plants mechanical/maintenance department. This intern will gain insight into the cement and building materials industry.
Compensation
$20.50-$27.00/hr DOE
Responsibilities
-Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training
-Carry-out and practice all Safety training and Company policies in the CalPortland workplace
-Provide support to the Oro Grande Maintenance Mechanical team.
-Assist in PM instruction develeopment
-Learn about cement plant operations
-Additional work with plant engineers
-Assist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities
-Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required
-Attend Summer Intern event at Corporate Headquarters in Las Vegas, NV
-Perform plant tasks as assigned
Education
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Requirements/Qualifications
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
-Preferably an understanding of drafting/AutoCAD
-Good attendance and punctual
-Ability to work a flexible schedule
-Ability to work independently and in a team setting
-Must possess valid driver's license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehicles
Preferred:
-Experience with equipment management software
-Prior experience or internship in construction or building materials industry
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
