Sessional Lecturer/Course Coordinator - ARC200H1S - Drawing and Representation II
Course description:
A course on the theories and techniques of visual communication and representation in the design disciplines delivered through lectures and thematic drawing projects. The course serves as a hands-on introduction to the description of structures and environments as a means of both production and critique.
Estimated TA support:
Each practicum section has a TA (60 hours per section), one of whom is HEAD TA (70 hours).
Estimated course enrolment: 20 per practicum section
Class schedule:
Lecture - Monday, 10:00am - 11:00am
Practicum - Wednesday, 9:00am - 12:00pm
Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2026 to April 30, 2026
Salary (per half-course, inclusive of vacation):
Sessional Lecturer I: $ 9,820.70
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $ 10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II $ 10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $ 10,760.28
Sessional Lecturer III: $ 10,760.28
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $ 11,030.36
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture (or related design discipline) and relevant professional experience in design.
Preferred Qualifications:
We are seeking applicants with a professional degree in architecture (Master’s or Bachelor’s) and a record of teaching architectural design at the undergraduate or graduate level, including coordinating large studio courses. Demonstrated experience in architectural practice is an asset. Demonstrated design excellence is desired and will be evaluated through consideration of professional experience, design awards (if applicable), and a 1-2 page portfolio.
Description of duties:
The successful candidate will coordinate a design studio course. Normal duties may include the preparation and delivery of course content in weekly lectures; the development and administration of assignments; the marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours; and the supervision of the day-to-day work of any Sessional Instructional Assistants and Teaching Assistants assigned to the course. There is no expectation of or requirement for research or administrative service.
